Install the rzv CLI

The rzv command-line tool: install it, sign in, connect GitHub, and read jobs.

Availability

Install the rzv CLI with: curl -fsSL https://runzivo.dev/downloads/rzv/install.sh | sh. Version 0.3.1 is published. Sign in with the GitHub identity you use for the customer portal. This page describes what the CLI does today and separates that from what is still planned.

What the CLI does today

  • rzv login opens your browser to sign in and stores a short-lived access token locally. It never prints a password or token to the terminal.
  • rzv signup --slug <slug> --name <name> creates a new workspace for your signed-in identity, when self-service signup is open.
  • rzv accounts list shows the accounts your signed-in identity is authorized for; rzv accounts select <account-id> chooses one for later commands.
  • rzv jobs list and rzv jobs get <job-id> read job status for the selected account.
  • rzv github status reads the selected account's current GitHub App connection: its state, the connected account, and authorized repositories.
  • rzv usage reads the selected account's current usage total: billable minutes and job count since the linked installation's first recorded usage.
  • Every command accepts --json for scripting, and rzv logout removes the locally stored credential.

GitHub connection commands

The public CLI includes commands to connect a GitHub App installation and inspect eligible runner labels. GitHub prompts for its own authorization when a command needs it.

  • rzv github connect and rzv github authorize: link a new GitHub App installation using GitHub's own device flow.
  • rzv runner-profiles <repository-id>: lists the runner configurations available to a connected repository, including the exact runs-on label for each.
  • rzv billing: reads the workspace's current allowance and balance. Checkout is not available in the shared service.

Installed, no separate Node.js required

The rzv CLI installs as a single, self-contained program. You do not install Node.js or any other runtime separately to run it.

Verified and available today: macOS (Apple Silicon) and Linux (x86-64). Not yet available: macOS (Intel) and Windows — these are not offered until they pass the same verification, not merely because a build exists.

Troubleshooting the CLI

  • “Credentials were rejected or expired”: run rzv login again.
  • “The requested account is not authorized for this customer”: use rzv accounts list and rzv accounts select to choose an authorized workspace. Contact support if you expect access.
  • “The customer API is unavailable”: wait and retry; contact support if it persists.
  • rzv github authorize fails with authorization denied or an expired device code: GitHub's device flow was declined or timed out — run rzv github authorize again.
  • rzv github authorize fails with installation authority denied: you must be an organization admin/owner. With an invalid or expired link state: run rzv github connect again for a new one.
