Agent Sandboxes
Isolated Linux microVMs where a workspace runs commands and opens a terminal, for up to eight hours.
What a sandbox is
A sandbox is a Firecracker microVM in your workspace. You create it, run commands in it, open a terminal, stop it and start it again, from the rzv CLI, the customer API or the portal. Files in /workspace survive a stop and a start.
A sandbox lasts eight hours from its first start, by the wall clock. Stopping does not pause that time, starting again does not reset it, and it cannot be extended. After eight hours the sandbox expires and its VM and files are deleted.
Statuses
- pending waits for a host. starting and stopping wait for the host to confirm.
- running has a VM up. Only a running sandbox accepts commands and terminals.
- stopped keeps its files and is not billed.
- deleting removes the VM and its files. deleted and expired sandboxes are gone.
- failed names its cause in error. You can start a failed sandbox again until it expires.
Who can use sandboxes
Owners, admins and members can view sandboxes. Owners and admins can create, start, stop and delete sandboxes, run commands and open terminals. API keys are limited by scope and by their creator's role.
