Transfer a project with rsync

Coming soon. Planned worked example, not available yet in production.

Before you start

Planned workflow: generate the alias and check that a plain SSH command runs. Run the dry run locally first and review every file it lists. Exclude credentials and local state. The example does not delete destination files.

Preview the upload

Planned example · dry run only · replace placeholders
rzv sandboxes ssh-config <sandbox-id> --write
ssh <sandbox-id>.rzv true
rsync -av --dry-run --exclude .git --exclude .env --exclude node_modules -e ssh ./project/ <sandbox-id>.rzv:/workspace/project/

Copy after review

Planned example · copies files
rsync -av --exclude .git --exclude .env --exclude node_modules -e ssh ./project/ <sandbox-id>.rzv:/workspace/project/

Review and protect your work

The dry run below previews copying results back into a separate local directory. Review the destination before you remove --dry-run. No command here turns on SSH or extends the eight-hour sandbox lifetime. Copy work out before expiry and keep host verification on.

Planned example · dry run only
rsync -av --dry-run -e ssh <sandbox-id>.rzv:/workspace/project/ ./reviewed-copy/
